Emily Thompson is a Brooklyn-based event designer, whose bouquets, displays, and décor combine exquisitely crafted compositions with organic beauty. An accomplished sculptor who exhibits her work internationally, Emily brings her sense of form to her work with flowers. Her designs recreate the wild landscape indoors.
At Emily Thompson Flowers, Emily and her team create décor for weddings and special events, provide weekly arrangements for private homes, restaurants, and businesses, and style photographs for editorial and advertising shoots. Using the freshest seasonal flowers, fruit, and foliage as well as unconventional, local materials, each design is individually conceived to suit the architecture and palette of its setting, or to transform a room entirely.
From single floral arrangements to large environments, Emily’s designs are intended to look like they grew just as they are, but in a magnificent style. For a recent destination beach wedding in Cape Cod , for example, She designed a ten-and-a-half foot bouquet, constructed with orchids, beach roses, and ferns. The bride trailed it in the sand like the train of a gown, and then her groom wore the tail like a feather boa. For a Berkshires banquet, she created an event thrown by woodland creatures, with foraged twigs, seedpods, rooster feathers, acorns and wild strawberries, designing every detail from linens to lighting.
Emily's work has won a following of artists, curators, and horticulturalists, and has been selected for the New York Horticultural Society's annual gala. Emily Thompson Flowers has also been featured in many magazines including In Style Weddings and a recurring home design column in Time Out New York.
